Four Testaments price war ... if you can believe it

June 27, 2016
Four Testaments: Tao Te Ching, Analects, Dhammapada, Bhagavad Gita will be out within days. It seems ridiculous to suggest that there is a “price war” for pre-publication orders of a theological / scriptural study, but something like that is going on.

The two giants among booksellers have entered into something at least akin to a price war, beginning at full price of $55. and dropping to $45. (Amazon), then $39.95 (Barnes & Noble) and settling at $35. (Amazon). Four Testaments is also available in Canada from Indigo and in the UK from Amazon, and elsewhere at slight discounts, but nothing like the drama in the USA – probably accessible to Canadians too, for those ordering single copies from there.

The publishing date of July 13 keeps moving up, so for those who order now, delivery is now likely only a week away. We cannot say if these prices will last beyond the publication date, but I wanted to get this information out to those in academic institutions or congregations which may be watching their pennies or dollars.

Bulk orders are probably still best negotiated with the publisher, Rowman and Littlefield, but for individual copies try the “giants” to see who is most eager to dominate the market for this book as the second installment in the two volume compendium with the popular Three Testaments, Torah, Gospel and Quran.

Thanks to all for your interest in this publication. The publishers will be in direct contact with some of you before classes begin in the fall.
